Ultramarathon runner disqualified from participating in auto race

Scottish ultramarathon runner Joasia Zakrzewski was disqualified from a race that took place on April 7 because she was found to be using a car during the course.

Joasia Zakrzewski finished the race from Manchester to Liverpool Ultras in third place and is said to have covered about four kilometers in the car. The running data showed that Joasia covered 1.6 kilometers in one minute and 40 seconds.

“The issue has been investigated and after reviewing data from our race tracking system, statements from the event team, other competitors and the competitor himself, we can confirm that the runner was disqualified for using a vehicle for part of the route.” Wayne Drinkwater, director of GB Racing. “This issue will now be addressed by regulatory authorities.”

Adrian Scott, a friend of Joasia Zakrzewski, told the BBC that she cooperated fully with the organizers and explained everything that happened. He also explained that Joasia Zakrzewski was not feeling well before and during the race and that he was thinking about withdrawing. “She is genuinely sorry for the inconvenience caused,” the friend concluded.
