This Friday, Benfica missed out on the Futsal Champions League final, losing 4-3 to the Spaniards of Palma to miss Sunday’s decision against Sporting, in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
In a game in which they started badly and lost 3-0 through goals from former Benfica fans Hossein Tayebi (02 and 18 minutes) and Mancuso (05), Benfica, winner of the 2009/10 edition, recovered to 3 -2, with goals from Chishkala (19) and Leo Gugiel (21), they returned to two behind after Cainan’s goal (22), but returned to the minimal difference through Gonçalo Sobral (25).
The closing stages of the game were intense and the ‘incarnates’ squandered several chances to take the game at least to extra time, with the final move being truly decisive, when the ‘eagles’ put the ball in goal, by Arthur, but the arbitration voided the bid, as time had already expired before the ball went in.
Hours earlier, Sporting had secured its seventh final by beating Belgian side Anderlecht 7-1 in the first semi-final of the competition.
The “lions” will thus try to take their third trophy in the league, after the conquests in the 2018/19 and 2020/21 seasons, after also being present four more times in the decisive game (2010/11, 2016/17 , 2017/18 and 2021/22).
In the final, which is scheduled for Sunday at 7 p.m., Sporting will face Palma Futsal, which will make its debut in the final.
