The president of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF), Brigitte Henriques, elected in June 2021, resigned from her position, in full General Assembly, 14 months before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, the organization announced.
Brigitte Henriques, former vice president of the French Football Federation (FFF), has resigned after a year and a half of conflicts, internal rivalries and an ‘open war’ with her predecessor Denis Masseglia.
The general secretary, Astrid Guyart, will temporarily ensure the direction of the Olympic body, until the election of a new president, “in the next three months”, detailed the CNSOF statement.
“The situation was no longer sustainable, he made the right decision,” reacted the president of one of the federations present at one of the organization’s most attended magna meetings, quoted by the French news agency AFP.
The CNOSF has been facing an unprecedented crisis for more than a year and a half, between threats and denunciations, revelations and email exchanges in the media.
This ‘climate’ has become untenable in recent days, after Denis Masseglia filed a lawsuit for breach of trust by Brigitte Henriques.
“This resignation is a way to resolve this crisis, it was a very noble act,” said the president of another federation, also quoted by AFP.
