Portuguese canoeist Fernando Pimenta won silver on Saturday in the K1 1,000 meters trial of the second leg of the Canoe World Cup, which takes place in Poznan, Poland.
As happened two weeks ago, in the first stage, in Hungary, the canoeist, bronze medalist in the distance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, was in second place and completed the race in 03.44.56 minutes, 1.62 seconds behind the winner, Hungarian Adam Varga, while fellow Magyar Balint Kopasz took third.
In addition, the K1 podium in the 1,000 meters in Poznan was exactly the same as that of the opening round of the World Cup, in Szeged.
This Saturday, the canoeist from Ponte de Lima will compete in the K1 500 meters semi-final, having already secured his presence in the mixed K2 500 meters final, together with Teresa Portela, on Sunday, the same day he will compete in the K1 5,000 meters event.
