This Saturday, Bayern Munich won their 11th consecutive title as champions of Germany in a dramatic Bundesliga final, in which the Bavarians finished on the same points as Borussia Dortmund thanks to a better goal difference of 54 to 39.
Dortmund started at the top of the Bundesliga for the final round, two points clear of rivals, but they went down 2–0 at Mainz in the 24th minute and the center saw goalscorer Sébastien Haller miss a penalty. At the same time, Bayern led 1-0 in Cologne through a goal from Kingsley Coman.
In the second half, emotions were even stronger as Dortmund reduced through Portugal’s Raphaël Guerreiro and in the 81st minute, Dejan Ljubicic scored from the penalty spot to seal Cologne’s draw against Bayern.
The party was held in Dortmund, because then Borussia was champion. But Musiala (89′) put Bayern back on the winning side after the yellow card goal that made it 2-2 with Mainz, scored by Nicklas Süle, was of no use.
The game was red and Bayern, who had used João Cancelo as a substitute, celebrated their 33rd title in their history.
In this final round of the Bundesliga, RB Leipzig and Union Berlin celebrated qualification for the Champions League, while Freiburg moved to the Europa League and Bayer Leverkusen qualified for the Conference League.
