Portuguese canoeist Fernando Pimenta won silver on Sunday in the K1 500 meters stage of the second leg of the World Cup Canoeing, which takes place in Poznan, Poland.
Pimenta, who won distance gold in the opening round of the World Cup in Hungary two weeks ago, was now second, 1:41.87 minutes, 0.32 seconds behind the winner, Czech Josef Dostal, while Dane Rene Holten Poulsen completed the podium.
It is the canoeist’s second medal from Ponte de Lima in Poznan – and the second for Portugal – after also winning silver in the K1 1000m on Saturday, the distance he won Olympic bronze in Tokyo 2020.
Also today, Pimenta will join Teresa Portela at 11:33 am (Lisbon time) in the mixed K2 500 meters final, before competing in the K1 5,000 meters final at 2:35 pm, in which she will also be participating Joao Duarte.
