Sevilla won the Europa League on Wednesday against AS Roma, led by José Mourinho, in a final that was only decided on penalties.
In the first half, Dybala opened the scoring in the 35th minute, but Mancini, the Italian team’s center, tied the game with an own goal. The result did not change until the end of extra time.
In the penalty conversion, Sevilla was stronger. Mancini and Ibañez missed the Italians’ penalties. Rui Patrício still saved Montiel’s first attempt for the decisive shot, but VAR ordered it to be retaken because the Portuguese was ahead of the line. On the second opportunity, the Argentine ceded the Europa League to the Spanish.
Sevilla thus wins the competition for the seventh time, increasing the record that was already theirs.
