Insults to FC Porto and Sporting? The Disciplinary Council opens disciplinary proceedings against David Neres

The Disciplinary Council of the Portuguese Football Federation announced this Thursday the opening of a disciplinary file against David Neres, after the alleged insults uttered by the Benfica player to FC Porto and Sporting.

“Initiation of a disciplinary file against David Neres Campos, by resolution of the Professional Section, of May 30, 2023, in order to determine the possible disciplinary relevance of the constant factuality of news disseminated in the media. The process was sent, on May 31, 2023, to the Commission of Instructors of the Portuguese Professional Football League, excluding advertising until the end of the instruction ”, reads the agency’s statement.

At stake are alleged insults directed by David Neres at FC Porto and Sporting during the festivities, as well as provocations by the player to Otávio, from the dragons, and Pedro Gonçalves, from the lions, on social networks.

Benfica was the national soccer champion last Saturday and the complaints occurred during the festivities. The communication director of FC Porto, Francisco J. Marques, had already announced that the club would file a complaint against the athlete from the eagles.
