Su-Wei Hsieh, from Taiwan, and China’s Xinyu Wang won the women’s doubles title at Roland Garros, after defeating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez and North America’s Taylor Townsend, in three sets.
In the final of the second ‘major’ of the season, the Asian duo needed two hours and 12 minutes to overcome the tenth seeds of the series, 1-6, 7-6 (7-5) and 6-1. , in what was the second tournament they played together, after Strasbourg last month.
For Hsieh, former world number one, it is the fifth Grand Slam trophy in his career, the second at Roland Garros, in a total of 31 tag team titles, while Wang won the first major, in three appearances.
