French entrepreneurs are still far from being convinced of artificial intelligence

More than half of French employers do not use artificial intelligence and have no intention of doing so in the future.

French entrepreneurs are still not very enthusiastic about artificial intelligence, between 31% of people convinced who already use it (and 4% who are preparing for it) and 57% who do not use it and have no intention of doing so , according to a survey, published on Thursday June 15, carried out by the BVA institute for Pôle Emploi.

At the head of the users of this technology are the agricultural and industrial sectors, as well as companies with more than 200 employees (45% of them), according to this survey of 3,000 companies with more than 10 employees.

The use of AI is particularly important in industry (half), finance (44%), commerce (40%) and agriculture (58%). Instead, less than 3 in 10 construction and personal services companies use it.

Among the groups that do not use it, almost 8 out of 10 believe that their activity is incompatible with this technology. A third mention a lack of skills and one in five (18%) the reluctance of staff. Only 15% say they are afraid of these new technologies.

For their part, those who use AI are very positive about its impact. For 63% of employers, it reduces tedious tasks and 66% mention a positive effect on the health and safety of staff, while 58% point to a positive effect on customer relations (80% in trade retail).

Two-thirds of employers also believe it increases employee autonomy, but they are divided on the impact on interpersonal relationships.

Answers and decision support.

The tools capable of resolving doubts or carrying out diagnostics for decision-making are the most used (46% of establishments that use AI), followed by natural language processing applications, to extract information or talk with customers, and the robotics. On the contrary, voice or visual recognition tools are the least used.

More than half of employers using AI use it in accounting, communications and human resources departments. Then come production, sales and purchases.
