The laconic epitaph is written in tiny white letters on the home page of the website. “Skyrock.com will no longer be available as of August 21.” A simple phrase to seal the fate of this site, formerly called skyblog.com, precursor of contemporary platforms such as Facebook or Twitter.
With the closure of the site, each user will be able to keep a copy of their blog offline, the platform indicates. This includes texts, images and videos. Skyblog specifies that it is recommended to download and use the WebCopy software, which is only compatible with Windows, or A1 Website Download, if you have a Mac, to download your entire blog to a computer.

Skyrock indicates that “the operation can last a few hours” depending on the quality of your Internet connection, your computer, as well as the amount of content, the number of pages of articles and comments present on your blog.
In addition, all blogs will be kept by the National Library of France, says Jérôme Aguesse, Skyrock’s deputy general manager, contacted by Tech&Co.
