The Italian government signed a memorandum of understanding with US investment fund KKR on Thursday for a joint offer to buy Telecom Italia’s (TIM) fixed network, the economy ministry said in a statement.
“The agreement provides for the formulation of a binding offer” which provides that the Ministry of Economy will take a stake of “up to 20%” in the future TIM company that combines its fixed network and its subsidiary of submarine cables.
