Agreement between Rome and the KKR fund on a joint offer for the Telecom Italia network

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the Italian government and the US investment fund KKR with a view to a joint offer to acquire Telecom Italia’s fixed network.

The Italian government signed a memorandum of understanding with US investment fund KKR on Thursday for a joint offer to buy Telecom Italia’s (TIM) fixed network, the economy ministry said in a statement.

“The agreement provides for the formulation of a binding offer” which provides that the Ministry of Economy will take a stake of “up to 20%” in the future TIM company that combines its fixed network and its subsidiary of submarine cables.
