Elon Musk says Napoleon inspired him to run his businesses

In a soon-to-be-published official biography, Elon Musk says he studied the life of the French emperor to develop his leadership.

At first glance, it’s hard to make the comparison between the capricious and provocative Elon Musk and Emperor Napoleon I. But according to the billionaire’s biographer, who interviewed him extensively for a book to be published next month, Musk is very interested in life. and the work of Bonaparte.

Asked about the Axios site, Walter Isaacson says that Musk was inspired by him for his ideas in terms of leadership. “He loves military history” and “believes there are lessons that apply to corporate life,” explains the biographer.

“If they see their general on the battlefield, they’ll be more motivated,” Musk explains in the book, noting that he learned this by “reading about Napoleon.”

Work “full” or leave the company

Known for being a workaholic, even if it means sleeping in factories, Elon Musk expects nothing less from his employees, believing they must either give themselves “completely” to the company or leave it.

Visibly skilled at fighting – as the conflict with Mark Zuckerberg demonstrates – Elon Musk probably shares some idea of his own prestige with Napoleon.

It remains to be seen whether Musk also studied the end of the emperor’s life, overthrown by a European coalition and forced to die in exile.
