At dawn from Wednesday to Thursday, the world will witness a rare phenomenon: a super blue moon. The Moon will be at its closest point to Earth, making it a supermoon, and it’s the second full moon of the month, hence the blue name. And the best time to see it will be after 02:00.

It is a “rare” phenomenon, with “years in which there is not one”: “This year there was one, exactly in the month of August, and this only because for there to be two full moons -which are 29.5 days – besides, it is necessary that it be a month of 30 or 31 days and, at the same time, the first full moon occurs immediately on day 1 or 2, so that another one can fall later that month. “We are going to have tonight : the second moon of this month and therefore a blue moon. As for the supermoon, theoretically if it is closer we see it bigger. It will not be very likely that whoever looks at the Moon tonight and manages to determine the size of the Moon, whether it is the intensity of the moonlight, that in a month they will remember what these things were like so that they can compare the size of the Moon and the intensity of moonlight from one month to the next.”
The phenomenon will have no influence on what is happening on Earth. The astronomer Máximo Ferreira explains that the Moon will not stir the tides tonight.
“The effect of the Moon on the Earth and the effect on each other and, naturally, on the oceans and on the level of the tides, is never very influenced by this difference of four or five thousand kilometers in the distance of the Moon”, guarantees. .
Also for the Indian probe stationed at the south pole of the Moon, tonight will not be much different from the rest: “You will not feel big differences. Even if you land at the south pole or on the edge of the dark side you will not notice the difference between the solar radiation on the Moon. They are there. For them, the Moon does not have this apparent variation in size and neither does the intensity of the solar radiation that falls there.
