The universal port is not one of the types of technological innovations that Apple likes to highlight, but Brussels has required electronics manufacturers to equip all new smartphones, tablets and cameras with a USB-C port by the end of 2024 .
“Now the same cable can charge your Mac (computer), iPad (‘tablet’), iPhone and even your second-generation AirPods pro (over-ear wireless headphones),” added Kaiann Drance.
“If the battery of your AirPods, or your Apple Watch, is very low, you can charge them directly from your iPhone,” he added.
Apple leaders presented four new iPhones this Tuesday with, as every year, brighter screens, more sophisticated cameras and more advanced processors.
In the prices published by the company in dollars, the basic model, the iPhone 15, will be sold from $800 (about 745 euros), the same price as the iPhone 14 presented a year ago.
The most expensive professional model, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will cost at least $1,200 (about 1,100 euros), or $100 (about 93 euros) more than its previous counterpart.
The greater integration of the USB-C port represents a small revolution for Apple’s ecosystem of products and services, which is difficult to integrate with other systems, although some of the brand’s computers already include this port.
Apple tried to oppose this measure by the European Union (EU), arguing that it would “stifle innovation” and “harm consumers”, but Brussels argued that it is about making life easier for customers and reducing the amount of waste. created electronics. Chargers become obsolete.
The move is expected to save European consumers €250 million a year.
