Apple will update the iPhone 12 in France after regulators raised concerns about the level of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the devices, the French minister for the Digital Transition said on Friday.
“Apple assured me that it will implement an update for the iPhone 12 in the coming days,” said Jean-Noël Barrot in statements to AFP, days after ordering the North American technology giant to suspend sales of the model.
Sales of the iPhone 12 were suspended on Tuesday in France after the body that regulates radio frequencies in the country, ANFR, detected that this smartphone model emits too much electromagnetic radiation that can be absorbed by the human body.
The absorption of electromagnetic energy by the body when the cell phone is in the hand or in the pocket demonstrated values higher than those established by European standards.
Contacted by Agence France-Presse, Apple disputed the results mentioned by ANFR, stating that it presented several independent analyzes showing that the devices were compliant. Even so, he pledged to continue working with the regulator.
