“When you love, you don’t count.” In any case, this is what Tinder seems to expect: the dating app has introduced a new premium subscription, called Tinder Select, which will cost a whopping $499 per month (no price in euros has been announced). It was discovered by the American site Bloomberg.
The new formula, designed for the most active users, will offer new exclusive functions, detailed on the application’s website. Selected subscribers will, for example, be able to message someone without having to match them (up to twice a week), and their profile will remain visible as a priority in the list of other users who have liked them.
Less than 1% of users
Tinder also promises a “SELECT mode,” to “access the most popular profiles.” Selected subscribers will also be able to hide ads and preview new features.
In fact, Tinder has been offering a special formula to carefully selected VIP members for several years: personalities, models, bosses… The novelty is that the Select service will be open to more people – for a fee.
But as its name indicates, not everyone will have the possibility of accessing it: Tinder Select will always be accessible only to the users chosen by the company among the most active. At the moment, this affects less than 1% of users.
It remains to be seen if this new formula, which is added to the other three that the application already offers (Tinder Plus, Gold and Platinum), will find an audience. Tinder, which belongs to the same group as other dating platforms such as Hinge and OKCupid, has seen its subscriber numbers drop over the last 3 quarters according to Bloomberg.
