“Victory! […] We have just voted on an amendment to regulate teleconsultation with a health professional on each side of the screen.” On October 12, LFI MP Caroline Fiat was delighted with the adoption of an amendment to the National Assembly on the consultation of a doctor over the Internet or by phone Proposed by LR MP Isabelle Valentin and approved by the Social Affairs Commission, it puts an end to the teleconsultation system as it currently exists, in particular on platforms such as Doctolib.
According to the text, “the acts of teleconsultation must be carried out through a multidisciplinary health center, a pharmacy or a community to guarantee better supervision of this practice.” The presentation of the MP is clear: its amendment aims to require the monitoring of any teleconsultation by a health professional. Doing any remote consultation at home, from your smartphone or from your computer, impossible, as is currently the case.
The adoption of such an amendment angered some majority deputies, starting with Eric Bothorel (Renaissance), a specialist in digital issues.
A situation that Marc Ferracci, vice president of the Renaissance group in the National Assembly, also criticizes, who evokes “the end of the very principle of medical teleconsultation.” After this first approval in the Committee on Social Affairs, this amendment will be put to a vote in session, at the end of October.
The issue of teleconsultation has recently been put on the table by the government, which wishes in particular to reimburse work stoppages resulting from a teleconsultation with a doctor other than their GP, in order to limit abuses. According to figures dating from the end of 2021, one million teleconsultations are carried out in France every month.
