In an open letter published in the summer of 2022, employees noted the embarrassment and confusion in which Elon Musk’s behavior routinely placed them. This publication occurred in the midst of the acquisition of X (Twitter), which was marked by numerous adventures several months before the final acquisition at the end of October 2022.
Employees “asked to resign”
The only problem is that the space company thanked the people who participated in writing the letter. That’s why the NLRB filed a complaint on Wednesday, January 3, against the businessman, The Verge reports.
SpaceX, which offers the Stralink satellite telecommunications service, allegedly “retaliated against employees who engaged in collective activities and discouraged other employees from engaging in similar activities,” according to the complaint published by the American site.
Thus, in the event of regrouping, the employees would have been “asked to resign” or “threatened with dismissal.” Above all, the federal worker protection agency assures that SpaceX has established “a sense of surveillance”, in particular by reading and showing screenshots of messages exchanged by employees.
An administrative judge will review the case on March 5. Until then, SpaceX has the ability to stop the lawsuits by offering a financial settlement. According to its complaint, the NLRB wants, among other things, the company to post a notice of employee rights for 120 days and require a written apology for each person fired.
