“I don’t like ARAMS”: a “League of Legends” player expelled from Tiktok after a confusion

A streamer has been banned from live streams due to comments directly related to the games.

A professional streamer has been banned from going live on TikTok due to confusion over her comments. Iunanova, specialist in the popular online multiplayer game League of LegendsHe is used to broadcasting live on the streaming platform Twitch and the social network Tiktok simultaneously.

On the occasion of a part of League of Legends for the new Year, They offered him an “Aram” (for “Everything random, everything in half”), a specific game mode for League of Legends particularly popular.

Challenge rejected

It was when he told his teammates that no, “she doesn’t like Arams” that the player was excluded from the live broadcast. The reason is: “hatred towards an ethnic group and racial discrimination”

“I directly filed a dispute about Tiktok’s exclusive service, but it was immediately rejected,” he continues. He then submitted a support request the same day.

Iunanova explains that she has been in contact with other streamers who have found themselves in the same situation. “I spoke to a Valorant player (an online multiplayer game, editor’s note) who explained to me that he had been banned due to hateful comments made in the game’s voice chat, and for which he was not responsible.” A decision, according to her, that should be attributed to the lack of risks on the part of Tiktok.

Moderation analyzed

“Right before I got banned, I saw in the chat that people were wondering what I said and that I needed to be reported en masse. I think it only took about ten reports in the process to get Tiktok banned live. They’d rather ban to a user even if it means filing a dispute later, rather than risking something harmful on their platform,” the streamer notes.

And according to the testimonies you have received, you will have to be patient: litigation is rarely successful and it is especially difficult to contact Tiktok support.

If her Tiktok account was not banned, it was her access to live streams that was an important “source of visibility” for her. However, she kept her Twitch account, which she describes as “her main source of income.”

Tiktok’s moderation service is receiving special attention, while the platform was recently the subject of an investigation by the European Commission. Within the framework of the DSA, the Chinese platform had to reveal its moderation means: in France, there is on average one human moderator for every 30,000 users.
