Do you know “creepy pasta”? These stories have become very popular on forums like Reddit or 4Chan. It is generally a publication that tells, sometimes in dozens of pages, chilling stories.
This is how the concept of “clipping” and backrooms was born, that is, the involuntary passage towards a world on different levels, each one more terrible than the other, and that keep secrets and surprises.
YouTubers have turned it into a specialty and often allow you to spend an evening full of terror. That’s why Tech&Co has selected the videographers who will make you break out in a cold sweat on Halloween night.
· Feldup, the king of terror
With his 1.58 million subscribers, Feldup is a particularly popular videographer for having imagined the “iceberg” of YouTube. The young man, who started his channel when he was a teenager, then made a classification of the stories and adventures that have followed Google’s streaming platform over the years. But he is also known for his concept of “Findings”, where he tells terrifying stories with an almost supernatural talent.
Sometimes very long – the last episode, number 105, focused on the legend of “The Oldest View” is 1h13 and is by Kane Parsons, who Tech&Co tells you about below -, they are especially marked by the tone, at the same time heavy and calm. , by Feldup. The creator manages to transport us to a nightmare universe and carries out his own investigations, to the delight of his subscribers.
· Squeezie and his horror videos
If the YouTuber with almost 20 million subscribers became known thanks to video games, since then his editorial line has greatly evolved with new concepts, but also ideas taken up on American YouTube.
This is how Squeezie imagined his terrifying “threads” (or videos/publications), which he publishes periodically, with a success that no longer needs to be demonstrated. The last one, where he recounts a kidnapping that lasted seven years, produces emotions, especially thanks to the animation and a very gloomy atmosphere. The success of these “threads” was such that a comic strip was created, called Bleakwhich addresses three of the most important stories of its concept.
· The Great JD, the explorer of the supernatural
Almost four million subscribers… Grand JD continues what he does best: exploring supposedly haunted places. It could be a town hall, or even a forest populated by wolves, but above all he is an urbex enthusiast. This practice is widespread on YouTube: it consists of exploring abandoned places, which can sometimes hold terrifying surprises.
While some of his videos have been flagged for possibly being manipulated, they are still entertaining for anyone looking for an evening of excitement.
· ALT 236, the adventurer of imagination
He is less known than the first three cameramen in our selection, but he is still worth the detour. ALT 236 is an “explorer of fictional universes”, and he is not wrong, since he is behind Mythologics, those video concepts that return to Internet phenomena, such as Backrooms.
Through this format, he returns with passion and horror to books, films or documents and sequences that have marked Internet forums, such as The house of leavesa book known for its intricate narrative and playing with page effects to tell its story.
· Kane Pixels, the “creator” of Backrooms
The Backrooms, Tech&Co told you about them a little above: a succession of floors with a selection of horrors that seem to trap you best there. This concept is as old as the Internet, but Kane Pixels, whose real name is Kane Parsons, decided to bring it to life through a long series of videos, which continues to this day.
This series takes the form of “found footage”, videos supposedly found by chance, and in some way it projects us to these places full of mysteries. Discovering Backrooms today is fascinating, but also terrifying and the work being done on this topic is simply incredible. It was such a success that the production studio A24 Films signed Kane Parsons to adapt it to film. Production is underway and its launch is already shaping up to be an event.
