Tiktok is back in the news with a dangerous trend. It emerged a few days ago and consists of putting yourself in a suitcase and leaving only your head poking out. Many videos of this type appear on the Chinese social network, with the hashtag #ilikemysuitcase, which show a person in a suitcase with a friend pulling it.
This trend is inspired by a video broadcast 14 years ago on CNN, according to the American magazine Forbes. This video shows Donald Trump’s son, Barron Trump, with his parents in his father’s office. 4-year-old walks up to a suitcase and declares, “I like my suitcase,” in a Slovenian accent.
Headache, lump, nausea.
This video has resurfaced in recent days, followed by an excerpt in which Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, speak with famous journalist Larry King. She explains that Barron has her accent because he spends most of his time with her.
Not only did this video go viral, but Barron Trump’s phrase was also transformed into a remix, which also went viral, with more than 20,000 users using it as sound on Tiktok. For reasons that are unclear, this simple phrase led to the trend of packing in a suitcase.
A staging that, however, can be dangerous, as demonstrated by the American influencer Gianna Harner. With 11.4 million subscribers, she recently posted a video in which she is seen in a suitcase before it falls. Unable to use his arms and legs to break his fall, he violently hit his head.
“Like an idiot, I participated in this trend where you put yourself in a suitcase and now I’m wondering if I should go to the emergency room because I hit my head on the floor when I fell with the suitcase. “I have a bad headache, a huge lump on the side of my head and I feel nauseous, just opening my eyes hurts and I feel pressure in my head,” he wrote in a post on another publication. Or the symptoms of a mild concussion.
And she’s not the only one who has paid the price for this new trend on Tiktok. Numerous videos of this dangerous challenge have recently been uploaded on the platform. Accumulating tens of millions of views.
