Scam sites promoted by Instagram accounts with several hundred thousand subscribers

Either in their Stories or in their description, the accounts, some of which have over 300,000 subscribers, highlight deceptive e-commerce sites such as sneakerline.fr or shilder.com.

“It’s crazy!” In an Instagram story published at the end of October and then missing, an account followed by more than 384,000 subscribers promotes the sneakerline.fr site. Air Jordans at €1440 that go to €115 during the validation of the basket due to a “bug”: the story is tempting. Only problem: the company behind this site does not exist.

At first glance, the sneakerline.fr site seems perfectly legitimate. Sleek homepage, promises of free delivery and secure payment, “authentic” products… and even a “legal notes“. But, the first surprising element, the text says that the company is registered with the RCS number 527 403 572… which does not exist at the time of writing this article, according to the site Infogreffe.com which lists the registered companies. And no results if you search for the name “sneakerline”.

The site is littered with these questionable items: The phone number referred to as a contact (“+331440670”) is incomplete. The page “our concept“was completely copied and pasted from an actual shoe sales site, wethenew.com. Contacted by email, the site administrators have not yet responded.

As of this writing, the site link still appears in the Instagram account bio. @_dieuofficielthat only reuses the contents of the humorous Twitter account @_dieuoff. Contacted, the owner of the original Twitter account assures Tech&Co that he has no connection to this Instagram account, and that his real Instagram account is also @_dieuoff. He denounces the accounts that have been using his content for several years, explaining that he considered taking legal action against several of them, before giving up.

The @_dieuofficiel account is not the only one that has promoted the sneakerline.fr site. The @confessaide account (71,600 subscribers) also included it in its bio.

another dubious site

This site could be linked to a larger galaxy of scam sites. The legal notices of sneakerline.fr indicate that the Internet user is “currently connected to the shilder.com website”.

Shilder.com is a site that claims to sell AirPods and their accessories. It was also promoted by several fairly followed Instagram accounts, such as @confessvocal (32,600 subscribers) or @yapasdgalere (40,100 subscribers), whose 13 subscriptions include, among others, @_dieuofficiel and @_confessaide. Except the company behind this site doesn’t exist either.

The legal notices of shilder.com are identical in all respects to those of sneakerline.fr, except that they display a valid RCS number… That it belongs to L-Expert-Comptable.com, according to Infogreffe, and that it does not differ by just one digit of the number displayed by sneakerline.fr. We tried to contact the email addresses shown in the legal notices ([email protected] and [email protected]), but immediately received two error messages.

The site claims to be accompanied by the Deshoulières law firm, which the latter’s founder denies en bloc. And on the Instagram account @shilder_fr, the vast majority of comments denounce a scam, some explaining that they had to oppose their card.
