A fire that has damaged this Saturday, October 4, a mosque in southern England this Saturday, October 4, is treated as a “hate crime” by the police, said Sunday, October 5.
The main entrance to the mosque, which is located in the coastal city of Peaceheave, suffered damage to this alleged criminal fire, as well as in a parked vehicle outside. He had not injured.
“We understand the concerns (…) and the impact it will have on the Muslim community,” said Commissioner Karrie Bohanna. “The police presence has already been reinforced on the scene and additional patrols have been established to reassure other places of worship” in the region, he added.
“I could have been murderer”
A volunteer of the place of worship told the BBC that two people tried to enter through the main door of the mosque, which they found closed. According to their history, the two men poured a liquid at the entrance of the mosque before a fire is activated.
“It could have been deadly,” he deplored, while two people were inside the building when the fire began.
This fire occurs three days after an attack on a synagogue in Manchester, in northern England.
The assailant, Jihad al-Shamie, a 35-year-old British British, ran with his car in people in front of the building, before attacking several faithful with a knife.
