The president of the United States, Donald Trump, said that the American technology giant of Apple should produce in the United States instead of India during a meeting with business leaders in Doha, Qatar, Thursday.
“I told Tim (Cook, general director of Apple, editor’s note), we treat it very well. We have accepted all the factories he built in China for years,” said the president in the second stage of his tour in the Gulf.
During the presentation of its latest results in early May, Tim Cook said he hoped that “the majority of the iPhone sold in the United States” during the current quarter comes from India.
Mass investments in the United States
The measure made possible the customs tasks of 145% applied by the United States to China products, traditionally the heart of the manufacture of famous smartphones. Since then, China and the United States have agreed a 90 -day truce in their customs surcharges.
Tim Cook had also warned in early May that it was “very difficult to predict” how supply circuits would organize beyond the second quarter.
The group also said in February that it wanted to invest more than $ 500 billion in the United States over the next four years and promised 20,000 hiring in the country.
“Apple has already (announced) 500 billion, but they will increase its production. It would be good,” said Donald Trump on Thursday.
