Spotify further increases its prices in France

The musical transmission platform continues to increase its prices in the European territory, and France is not forgotten.

After rumors arrive at the time of formalization. A few weeks after Belgium, it was in France that Spotify increases the price of its subscriptions. As of July, subscribers to Spotify Premium, whatever the formula, will pay more. The transmission transmission platform began to warn them by email, as some have reported on social networks.

The increases vary from 1 to 3 euros more per month. The individual premium subscription now reaches 12.14 euros per month, against 11.12 euros per month so far. Student’s premium formula goes from 6.06 euros per month to 7.07 euros per month. The premium duo subscription will cost 17.20 euros per month, against 15.17 euros before, while the premium family formula will fall from 18.21 euros per month to 21.24 euros per month.

Finally, the family subscription goes beyond 20 euros per month, to stand at 21.24 euros per month, compared to 18.21 euros per month so far.

Spotify becomes the most expensive transmission service

These prices are active as of Tuesday, June 3 for new subscribers, but not for existing subscribers, since Spotify must respect a period of 30 days before increasing prices for the latter, the time they can decide to decline or not.

This is not the first time that Spotify has increased its prices in France. The last time dates back to the spring of 2024, but the increase had been contained to take into account the transmission tax imposed by the Government.

The platform has justified this new increase “to continue innovating in our product offers and our characteristics, and to offer you the best experience” in its email aimed at subscribers.

“While we continue innovating and improving the value we offer, we periodically adjust our prices to reflect the local market conditions and economic factors, which guarantees that our service remains without equal. We are committed to continue providing the best musical experience, podcasts and audiobooks in the world thanks to the first -class characteristics, hyperpersonalization and powerful discovery tools.” Explained Spotify with Tech & Co.

It remains to be seen if this will not affect the number of Spotify subscribers. During its latest financial results, the platform claimed 268 million subscribers, for 678 million active users each month.

With this increase in the rate, and even if Spotify has muscled its game with the arrival of audiobooks and podcasts, the transmission platform becomes the most expensive against competitors such as Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon Music, which show a price of 10.99 euros per month for the individual package.
