Goal saves a nuclear energy plant for its anti -drricone policy

The company has concluded an agreement with the Great Operator of Constellation Energy Nuclear Centers, which will provide nuclear energy for 20 years.

American Constellation Energy, a large nuclear power operator in the United States, has reached an agreement to provide goal for 20 years from the energy produced by its nuclear energy plant in Clinton (Illinois), announced Tuesday.

The energetic explains in its press release that the agreement with the American Giganse of Meta Technology (Facebook, Instagram), whose financial conditions are not specified, will allow “to support the target objectives and operations of the region with 1,121 megawatts of nuclear energy without emissions.”

“Have access to clean and reliable energy”

The Clinton Energy Station was put into service in 1987. It was “to close prematurely in 2017 after years of financial losses,” recalls the press release, but its closure had been avoided thanks to the adoption of a credit program for zero emissions that rise to mid -2027.

As of June 2027, this agreement will support the renewal of the license and the continuation of the operations of the nuclear installation, which uses some 500 people directly and feeds 800,000 homes with electricity, specifies the constellation. Clinton’s energy production will improve in 30 megawatts thanks to the improvements of the energy plant.

“We are proud to help maintain Clinton Energy Station in operation over the next few years and demonstrate that this energy plant is an important part of strengthening US advance in terms of energy,” he adds.

The dazzling boom in artificial intelligence has led to new gigantic energy needs. The data centers (data center), these millions of servers that house IT data, now represent only 1% of the global electricity consumption, according to the International Energy Agency (AIE).

But in some places, the figures fly: in 2023, more than 25% of the demand for electricity in the state of Virginia, in the United States, came from data centers, according to the OECD energy agency.

In September 2024, Constellation announced a reward project in 2028 of a nuclear unit in Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania, to provide Microsoft to electricity.
