How to end hunting accidents in the field? A hunter has decided to launch his application, called “Chassé & croisé”, to allow walkers to be informed in real time of the beaten areas. An attempt to reassure the walkers.
“The Belvès company is hunting next door,” says David Poillion, a Dordogne resident, his nose glued to his phone.
A notification in case of a beating
Thanks to the application installed on his smartphone, this manager of an equestrian center in the town of Fongalop, in the Dordogne, locates in a few clicks the hunts that take place near where he is.
The beginning? The app presents users with a map of the surrounding area. When a hunt is organized, hunters indicate the location in question on the application. “The blue dot is me and we activated the zone”, explains Michaël Albié, hunter.
If a walker enters the hunt perimeter, you receive a notification. “Warning, you have entered a hunting area”, the application shows. Conversely, hunters are also alerted on their phone to the arrival of a walker.
5 euros to be paid by the hunter
Michaël Albié, a hunter since he was 16 years old, is behind this app. The idea comes to him when his wife wants to go out for a walk with her daughter.
“She did not dare because she was afraid. She didn’t know where we were hunting,” she says. “I realized that there were a lot of people in this case,” she adds, while several hunting accidents have recently contributed to heighten tensions between supporters and opponents of this practice.
The application is free for walkers, but charged for hunters at a rate of 5 euros. So far 1,200 downloads have been made, mainly in the Dordogne and Gers.
