TF1 in Netflix: why the two groups will be winners with this alliance

When announcing an agreement with TF1 to broadcast its live channels and its repetition programs, Netflix is ​​shaking the SVOD market in France. An event that may well have an impact worldwide.

Nothing stops Netflix, and even less TF1 with which the SVOD platform has excellent relationships. Between TF1 and Netflix, a reason of reason

An agreement that may surprise, while Netflix has never really paid in live broadcast, and that until now has never wanted to open the meanders of its platform to other actors.

However, this association is far from being a surprise. Between TF1 and Netflix, it is an issue that has been operating since the launch of the SVOD platform in France. At that time, the group led by Rodolphe Belmer had signed an agreement to codirect certain Netflix programs, such as the Marvel series, or even MarseillesThe first French production of the transmission giant.

In the spring of 2025, Netflix also signed an advertising association with TF1 and Newen, to guarantee the daily availability of the new daily series All for the light.

In one case as in the other, even if the purpose is logical, it is especially unprecedented and could be a date worldwide.

Netflix has long been looking for its subscriber base, particularly to multiply production initiatives, such as live sport, video games and, therefore, daily programs.

The platform could also use this agreement with TF1 to finally fold cinema professionals, with whom it escapes to drastically reduce the delay between a movie room and its arrival in Netflix. The reduction in media chronology, which is 15 months for Netflix, against 9 for Disney+, is a topic that the platform has led for a long time, and this association mentioned with TF1 is an argument of weight to show its good will, or unlike pressing indirectly.

With this agreement, Netflix, therefore, lets out of control of what becomes a portal of accessible programs live or not. However, this should not have much impact on your association with Canal+, even if you do exactly the same.

Finally, this association is also a good opportunity for Netflix, which wants to reduce the number of subscribers that “peck” when spraying from time to time and not throughout the year.
