A Lockbit member, the hacker group behind several large -scale cyber attacks, arrested in Ukraine

Lockbit lost one of its members after the arrest of a man of Ukrainian origin. This group of computer pirates has claimed several attacks of magnitude in recent years.

Several hundred attacks in France in 2024

Lockbit is not just a group of computer pirates, it is mainly a ransomiciel, which blocks a computer or server before claiming money to sell stolen data or that can be recovered. There are more than 200 victims in France alone in 2024.

In X, the delegated minister responsible for artificial and digital intelligence, Clara Chappaz, congratulated the gendarmes at the origin of this arrest: “France tracks their attackers everywhere.”

Lockbit had already seen its weakened control after a wave of arrests made at the end of 2024 by 11 countries, including France, Germany and the United States. 34 IT servers and 200 cryptocurrencies froze, in addition to arrests. Since then, the attacks have fallen significantly, confirms the national cyber unity.

The fact is that the environment of the cyber crime retains a massive fingerprint in the web and computer infrastructure. In 2024, the number of cyber attacks increased by 15%, according to the National Information Systems Agency (ANSSI). Just during the period of the Paris Olympic Games, the Government has counted 548 “cybersecurity events” but with the “low” impact given the precautions taken up.
