The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting in Gaza on Sunday at 10:00 am (2:00 pm GMT), after the Israeli Plan for the control of the city, several diplomatic sources said to the AFP on Friday.
Shortly before, the United Nations Secretary, Antonio Guterres, warned Israel, for the voice of a spokesman, against “a dangerous escalation” that “will probably worsen the already catastrophic consequences for millions of Palestinians.”
“Additional forced trips”
Several countries, among the 15 that make up the Security Council, claimed this emergency meeting, praised by the Palestinian representation at the UN.
Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to order the Israeli army to take control of Gaza to “overcome” Hamas has caused a wave of indignation worldwide.
He risks leading to “additional forced trips, murders and mass destruction, aggravating the unimaginable suffering of the Palestinian population in Gaza,” said Antonio Guterres.
