“We kept a lot of time”: these tourists who planned their stays thanks to artificial intelligence

The generative artificial intelligence, in a few years, enters the reflexes and habits of the French. A study published in mid -July revealed that in three French had already used these new tools to plan a trip. Program, schedules, reserves … vacationers say how AI helps them plan their step by step.

This summer, Blaise and his family dry in ideal ideas of holiday destination. The couple and their two children, from Lausana (Switzerland), wanted to avoid “the warm and Mediterranean climate while staying in the European continent.” In the absence of inspiration, the father decided to be helped by generative artificial intelligence (AI), a few weeks before the scheduled trip in June.

At first, AI suggested destinations such as Scandinavia, Scotland or Brittany. Finally, the little family listened to him by embarking on a big road trip in France, fully planned thanks to Chatgpt.

Stay in a beautiful house in Concarneau, musical in Paris, wine tasting in Burgundy, visit Mont-Saint-Michel … the AI organized each stage from Lausana, ensuring that each trip does not exceed four hours and that each stage is interesting and perfectly suitable for their wishes.

“It marked all the boxes”

They are far from being the only ones. An Ipsos study conducted last February and presented in mid -July revealed that a Frenchman in three French had already used this new technological tool to prepare a stay. A figure that increases to 53% among children under 35.

“We saved a lot of time because this part of France was completely unknown to us,” says Blaise, who works in digital marketing. “First he told us to curse the type of trip we wanted, then find steps in which we would never have thought of ourselves, and even reserve accommodation or concrete activities. Now with new versions, you can even verify the availability of certain places.”

Several years have passed since this 53 -year -old Swiss adopted AI as a holiday planner. “For me, there was nothing worse than Google to prepare a trip: we spent hours there, we find ads or in blogs well referenced but obsolete. AI, directly extracts the essential between everything you find and according to our goals.”

During the last Easter holidays, it is also thanks to the AI that Blaise, his wife and two children made “the most beautiful journey of their entire life”, three weeks in Namibia. “Honestly, we would not have had the idea of ourselves to choose this destination, but when we explained our family context at the age of our children, our desire for adventures with Sun, but without too many people, he took Namibia …”

Personalized and Milimetric Programs

Sephora Becuri does not regret having used AI to help him plan his vacation, “a task” until then for the 28 -year -old. Previously, this dental surgeon in Lille (the thesis tea) used to buy travel guides or search on social networks, “but not necessarily adapted to (its) age, (its) taste or (its) budget.”

Since then, the young woman has been based on the chatgpt and perplexity to schedule her 18 -day stay in Japan very precisely, scheduled for next September. Thanks to his recommendations, he has developed an Excel file with a detailed schedule, day by day and even time per hour.

The AI offers the means of transport to favor, the order of visit of the sites according to their proximity, calculates the duration of the trips, advises the sites that deserve their eyes. On the recommendations of its virtual assistant, the Lille intends to go to Tokyo, Kamakura, at the foot of Mount Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka … and even Otsu, a small town that discovers, where they could do many activities, such as pulloline or the ship.

But artificial intelligence also allows you to verify all the logistics aspects of the trip: visa and documents to present, declaration of goods to customs, preparation of luggage, local events organized in the cities that it intends to cross. This, for example, allowed you to discover that in Japan, there is a luggage transfer system so as not to have to transport your bags with you from one city to another.

However, Sephora Bechouri cannot avoid going behind your assistant to guarantee the veracity of some of your statements. “I am double Checke to be sure and see if it corresponds to what I am looking for, but I am never disappointed.”

Beware of hallucinations and scams

But caution, because this is not the case for everyone. Currently on vacation in Cyclades, in Greece, Laurence* was almost fired by Chatgpt. According to the council of his relatives, this 43 -year -old lawyer questioned AI to find out if he could take the boat the next day to another island. It is not annoying, Chatgpt told him that he could really take this maritime service at 9 am information that, after more verifications, turned out to be wrong.

Fortunately, the tourist did not trust AI that day that day and, therefore, did not find the beak in the water. This is not the case of a pair of Malays, which was deceived by a false vacation destination due to a video generated by AI. The newspaper The Strait Times He informs that the couple has traveled to 300 km from Kuala Lumpur before discovering that there was no place to welcome them on the site.

But in addition to this misunderstanding that now pushes him to systematically verify the declarations of Chatgpt, Laurence* is also convinced of the use of AI to plan his vacation. “You have to talk with him to refine his research by specifying his expectations, his tastes and even his state of fatigue with the greatest possible precision … but in general he is stunned.”

Others, again, use it as a virtual assistant during the stay: they are asked to inform them about the history or geography of the places they visit, about local fauna and flora, or even on the economy of the territory. In the museums, many tourists began asking him to accompany his visit by commenting on works or artists exhibited.

“An assistant who helps me better, faster”

Philippe Bourcier, does not hesitate to request AI in case of unforeseen events once there. During his trip to Italy last year, the Ile -de -france trusted Chatgpt to find a folding solution, while one of his plans fell into the water. “With my wife we arrived in front of the Cathedral of Florence, and there was an endless tail, so we asked him to find an alternative and offered to go to the church of Santa Croce, which in fact was magnificent and much less frequented,” says forty -so many years, before adding: “One of the best visits we made in Florence, thanks Chatgpt!”

“It’s still hyper practical,” says this technical director in The Yvelines. “He absorbs tons and tons of knowledge in our place in a few seconds and synthesizes it. Better yet: he will order them according to my tastes … It is still strong. This is the great contribution of AI, it is the whipped cream on strawberries,” he said, laughing.

This great TripAdvisor user to classify and compare the quality of visiting places is delighted that a tool now allows you to customize applications and synthesize the amount of comments of visitors, whose reading can sometimes be time. Finally, he explains that in Italy, where many offices of tickets online go through a doubtful aspect, Chatgpt systematically indicated the official platforms. A guarantee of trust for this non -Italophone, which has fought to detect the official websites of sites with a questionable URL.
