French justice has ordered the goal to withdraw 26 publications that promote alcohol on social networks

The Paris Judicial Court forced the goal to withdraw publications that promote alcohol. These retreats refer to publications of 13 influential people on Facebook and Instagram.

French justice has had about twenty publications with goal (Facebook, Instagram) eliminated from alcohol, the France Association, which had already obtained a first judicial victory in this direction, announced Tuesday.

26 publications in question

The decision, issued by the Judicial Court of Paris and sent by the Association, dates back to early April, but addictions to France are only communicated on Tuesday.

In detail, the judicial decision lists the publications involved, particularly on Instagram, which come from 13 influential people, including Chief Juan Arbelaez and the host Malika Ménard.

For example, a publication that shows “Juan Arbelaez’s photography with a bottle of wine in his hand with (the humorist) François-Xavier demands,” the decision points out.

The publications in question are no longer visible from France, Instagram explaining that the platform meets “a legal request that asks us to restrict this content.”

An “ambiguity” around alcohol promotion

In France, alcohol ads are strictly supervised, limited to informative content, prohibiting any association with the party, coexistence or humor.

Addictions France believes that the images published by influential people who organize with clearly visible bottles or logos are a means to divert the law. She had already obtained a legal victory at the end of 2023: Justice had asked the goal to eliminate several publications and give the names and surnames of the holders of the account, as well as their email addresses.

The new decision significantly raises “ambiguity” promoted by alcohol producers, according to addictions France. “Contrary to what the latter claim in their ‘guides’ -regulators, the positions of ‘bosses’ (…) explicitly valued alcohol marks in the recipes or to accompany the tasting, they were convicted by the judge,” the organization said.

At the end of the previous decision, Meta had eliminated incriminated publications without comments.
