The company is also French, and verifies many important boxes, especially in ethical issues. First, he pays artists better and more precisely than Spotify. Then he clearly positioned himself against artificial intelligence and his abuses. Thanks to a internally developed robot, Deezer tells users that music is likely to have been generated by AI.
The latter will also be defected and never offered to users through suggestions. A good point, while music generated by AI is gaining impulse and sometimes even the melodies of post -mortem identity.

How to go from Spotify to Deezer with all your music

When we arrive in Deezer for the first time, the service asks us to select a dozen artists we appreciate. This passage is mandatory. We can regret it, but it tends to shape from the beginning the quality of the suggestions that will then offer us through personalized reproduction lists.

Spotify vs. Deezer: What is the recommendation algorithm?
After almost two months of use, it is clear that Deezer quickly identified my “music lover” profile. This is, without a doubt, what is more scary when it goes from one platform to another. I remember that Apple Music had clearly managed this test successfully, which gave rise to some enormities in musical suggestions.
Especially because Spotify’s algorithm is particularly powerful. The number one of the musical transmission offers an option to intelligently add songs to an existing reproduction list (which can be deactivated). Therefore, it is possible to easily discover music that we would not necessarily have heard in another way.
In Deezer, this option does not exist, but other ways of discovering music are available to you. In the Start tab, you can use the “flow”, which generates a reproduction list that depends on “our emotions” on the moment. In other words, if you are in a good mood, there is something for you, for athletes, to encourage your parties or at quieter moments. From there, Deezer will offer songs according to his listening and his playlists. The result is particularly satisfactory, and can “like” or “dislike” songs not to see them disembark.
The same goes for the “100%” reproduction lists that come to offer you a selection of titles in an artist who listens very often or even “mixtures” that will adapt according to the days. The “new” mixture is also very relevant and collects in the new singles of its favorite artists, but also among those that could correspond to their tastes.
If two months have passed since the experiment began, it only took three weeks to surround my tastes: I listen to many Taylor Swift and artists associated with the singer like Gracie Abrams. In fact, suggestions were agreed with these usual listening. The same goes for the “random” option, which is, as in Spotify, not really random. She understood that by bicycle or transport, I appreciated this musical style.
We also notice the possibility of “sharing” their music with other Deezer users, but also make the blind with a specific classification and themes.
Spotify vs. Deezer: Why is Spotify Connect replaced?
One of the Spotify forces is the way in which the platform has managed to settle in an entire device ecosystem through Spotify Connect. Therefore, we cannot recover a current reading in real time by this means. If I listen to a piece in the mobile application, the application of the computer will not tell me, and vice versa. With AirPlay, you can certainly send music easily to a TV, but you cannot navigate in the menus, simply move towards the next song. This also applies to Deezer’s TV application, which is not incorporated into a global ecosystem.
Clearly, if this aspect of Spotify was what convinced you at the base, Deezer will not offer the same experience. And clearly it does not seem to be a priority for the future.
A complete catalog of music and podcasts
If you do not have audiobooks or clips, the Deezer catalog is as complete (or almost) as those of its competitors, such as Apple Music or Spotify. With more than 70 million identified titles, therefore, you must easily find your happiness … Missing, since for others, artists published only on YouTube or alternative platforms (such as Bandcamp or Soundcloud), but the cases are rare.
As for the podcasts, again, the catalog is provided, but it is still little highlighted by Deezer. We find, for example, those of BFMTV, but the possible interactions are reduced to pain. You can’t see anything or leave comments. Nor can we add an episode to a current reading list to chain the episodes. However, it is obviously possible to increase reading speed.
A stranger who has almost everything of great
To conclude, the Deezer’s passage, whatever the initial reason, is far from being difficult, but should know where we are going. Deezer is clearly a platform whose public is on smartphones, so the development prioritizes this aspect. It is also less “gas factory” than Spotify can be with many options that are not useful.
Deezer probably deserves better customization so that each user really sits at home, and also an alternative to Spotify Connect. At a time when connected devices are everywhere, offer only cast or air game is particularly unfortunate.
But for the rest: the experience is pleasant. The AI is clearly not the strategy (if it is one of its arguments) and the algorithm adapts to the user. At the beginning of the 2025 school year, take the exam, the result could surprise it.
