“We had a good conversation”: Elon Musk settles his differences with Apple and thanks Tim Cook

“Apple never considered” removing Twitter from the Apple Store, Elon Musk said on the social network after meeting with the general manager of the Apple firm.

Barely out, the ax already buried? The new head of Twitter, Elon Musk, says he has resolved “the misunderstanding” about the possible removal of the social network from the Apple Store. Tim Cook “has made it clear that Apple has never considered doing this,” wrote the billionaire, claiming to have had “a good conversation” with the CEO of the giant Apple.

Elon Musk was received this Wednesday by Tim Cook at the Apple headquarters and thanked the latter for the visit.

Tension for several days.

For several days the tension between the social network and the apple firm did not stop increasing, Apple having put the brakes on its ads on Twitter. Bad news for Elon Musk, since the iPhone manufacturer alone accounts for 4% of the social network’s turnover ($48 million spent in the first quarter of 2022).

Elon Musk even personally attacked Tim Cook in a series of tweets. “Does Apple Hate Free Speech in America?” asked the billionaire.

Since taking over Twitter, Elon Musk has advocated for absolute freedom of expression on the social network, to the point of scaring away many advertisers.

According to Washington Post, Dozens of companies have suspended their paid communication on the social network. In total, more than a third of traditional advertisers have not taken up ad space on the platform for at least two weeks.
