Microsoft wants to use ChatGPT in its search engine to overthrow Google

The company is reportedly working to integrate the revolutionary chatbot into its Bing search engine to make it more relevant than its rival.

What if ChatGPT was a game changer in the field of search engines, largely dominated by Google? In any case, it is Microsoft’s hope that it would be in the process of incorporating the services of the OpenAi chatbot, to make Bing the new flagship of the genre.

According to The Information, Microsoft and OpenAi are working on the subject, which could even see a first application at the end of March. So the idea is to make Bing more relevant in your responses thanks to the formidable efficiency of ChatGPT. In practice, the chatbot would give the first response to Internet users’ searches, without the need to send them to any website.

For the other answers, Bing would stick with their algorithm. Still, Microsoft needs to handle the chatbot with a grain of salt: not only is it still based on a mostly pre-2021 database, it also delivers many outright bogus responses.

“Code Red” on Google

However, Microsoft hopes to take advantage of the progress of OpenAi to improve its products. The Redmond group had also invested $1 billion in 2019 in the startup to gain the chance to use its work.

In October, Microsoft also announced the integration of Dall-E 2, OpenAI’s artificial intelligence imager, into its new Office suite application, Microsoft Designer.

According to New York Times, the address of Google would have activated a “red code” in December; a way to raise internal alarm about the future of the internal search engine. If the latter still represents 90% of searches in the world, it is the ad network that provides most of Google’s revenue. Therefore, a possible decrease in market share would be a serious blow to the group.
