It was an open secret. This Wednesday, Microsoft announced that its Bing search engine will be equipped with ChatGPT technology, designed by the American startup OpenAI.
For Microsoft, this long-awaited move should be a way to counter Google’s near monopoly on Internet research by providing answers generated by artificial intelligence. In practice, an improved version of ChatGPT will be used to improve Bing.
Specifically, the idea is to have much more precise and detailed answers, such as a vacation itinerary for a specific destination. The system developed for Microsoft has been named Prometheus and will be “much more powerful” than ChatGPT.
countering Google
Microsoft had signed a partnership with OpenAI in 2019 to use the startup’s tools. The integration of ChatGPT to the Bing search engine has already been announced by the American press several weeks ago.
The arrival of generative artificial intelligence has caused a veritable earthquake in the technological world, forcing Google to react: the competitor has also announced the arrival of a chatbot in the coming weeks.
