Google asks its employees to spend “2 to 4 hours” training its competitor ChatGPT

Sundar Pichai, the head of Google, wants his teams to catch up with ChatGPT, the technology adopted by Microsoft.

In the battle of artificial intelligence, Google employees are involved. While Microsoft tests the integration of ChatGPT – a tool capable of automatically generating text – in its Bing browser, Google wants to speed up. The company, which introduced Bard, its competing AI, wants to make it available as quickly as possible to as many people as possible.

“Immense Potential”

In an internal note sent to his employees and published by the US Business Insider site, Sundar Pichai, head of Google, asks everyone to participate in Bard’s tests. To develop such an artificial intelligence, it is essential that humans be able to “train” it, by testing it and then pointing out their own mistakes. A practice that allows you to take advantage of the self-learning capacity of the machine.

“I know this period can be confusing, and it was to be expected: the underlying technology is evolving rapidly, with immense potential,” the Google boss explains to his employees.

Google employees aren’t the only ones involved. Before offering its artificial intelligence to Internet users and also integrating it into its search engine, the company pays thousands of external workers to test Bard.

If ChatGPT is indeed the forerunner in the field, at least in the eyes of the general public, its performance is still far from perfect. While a handful of users can already access it, the artificial intelligence has been caught insulting some internet users.
