Android phone users will soon have more control over their data. A new Google policy will come into effect at the beginning of 2024. It establishes that all applications present in the Google Play Store include data deletion options, indicates the Bleeping Computer site.
The developers now have just over nine months to implement these devices. Anyone who wants to do so can easily ask an app to delete their account. But also the data associated with it.
A gradual implementation
At the same time, when an application is required to retain data, developers will need to specify it. A user will thus be able to know what information the application must process, whether for security reasons, fraud prevention or simply due to regulatory restrictions.
Google Play Store news will be rolled out gradually. Starting December 7th, developers will need to be more transparent about the data they use. At the beginning of next year, users will have the possibility to request the deletion of their data.
New apps that do not meet the new criteria will no longer be able to be published on the Google Play Store. Those already present must comply before May 31, 2024, under penalty of being removed from the application store.
