A function available in WhatsApp allows you to define the conditions of access to the application from your Android smartphone or your iPhone. By activating this option, the mailbox is locked by default. To access, the platform then requests a code, but this can also be an authentication that can be done by fingerprint or facial recognition, according to the biometric parameters that you have previously defined on your smartphone.
Practical, this option allows you to guarantee the confidentiality and security of your personal data (conversations, contacts, photos, etc.) stored in the service when you lend your smartphone to a third party or if your terminal is unlocked in public view. Here’s how to set it up.
Configure WhatsApp lock on Android
- Tap the three dots at the top right
- Go to the “Settings” menu
- Click the “Privacy” box
- Choose the tab “Fingerprint lock”
- Enable “Unlock with fingerprint”
Block WhatsApp with Face ID
- Go to the “Settings” tab
- Tap “Privacy”
- Select “Screen lock”
- Activate the option “Use Face ID”
