Dylan Thiry, Jazz… Under pressure, controversial influencers leave social networks

As the influencer bill is considered in the Senate, some large accounts are leaving social media, voluntarily or by force.

The noose is tightening around influencers. At least for some of them. Pressured by the controversies, several celebrity accounts have decided to suspend their presence on social networks, when it is not the platforms that directly delete their profiles.

“Today, social networks, we know that it is very unpleasant. People are envious, people love you very much,” he criticizes. “I am not snow white, but you should not exaggerate what is said.”

With 1.6 million followers on Twitter, Dylan Thiry is one of the most popular influencers in France but also one of the most controversial. Between questionable product placements and controversy surrounding his “humanitarian trips”, the young man has become one of the targets of the influence law, currently under study in the Senate.

removed from networks

Before him, other celebrity accounts have also disappeared from social networks. This is particularly the case for Marc Blata (Marc Singainy Tevanin, his real name) whose Instagram account was removed by Meta (parent company of the social network) last January. He is the subject of a collective action, which brings together 88 complainants, for fraud in an organized gang and breach of trust in an organized gang.

Meanwhile, the platform banned the Instagram account of another influential influencer, Laurent Correia, known as Laurent Billionaire. Last week, his wife Jazz (4 million followers on Instagram) decided to take a break.

“I need to cut, I’ll be back in a few days,” he wrote. Another web star, Maeva Ghennam, also took “a break” to “restore order” to her life, before returning to Snapchat on Monday.

name and shame

Most influencers don’t mention controversial product placement controversies, but the pressure has been building for several weeks. Last Wednesday, the Minister of Economy, Bruno Le Maire, announced on BFMTV his intention to “give the names” of influencers who do not respect the rules. “We cannot accept that among the influencers it is the Wild West”, the minister insisted.

The Senate is examining a bill on influencers on Tuesday, already approved at first reading by the National Assembly, to better regulate a sector that remains largely anarchic.
