Completing your taxes can sometimes be a headache. And once again, artificial intelligence is there to help Internet users solve everyday problems. A French company, TaxMind, has thus developed an application that offers experience and advice on tax law and, therefore, can help with tax returns.
Based on version 4 of the OpenAI API, the same one used for ChatGPT, TaxMind relies on the General Tax Code as well as on the Bofip (Official Bulletin of Public Finances). So the principle remains the same as for many chatbots: one question from the Internet user, one answer from the AI.
Which tax regime to choose
In the context of the tax return, it is enough to describe one’s situation, as Pierre-Henri Janssens, CEO of TaxMind, a guest of BFM Business, explains: “For example, I rent a furnished property, I have so much income, so many charges: how I must declare to optimize my situation”.
However, the app is not intended to replace the reflection of the tax filer or legal professional. Therefore, it is not a matter of basing your statement entirely on TaxMind’s statements, as artificial intelligences, particularly chatbots, are often accused of spreading false information.
Foreign taxation will soon be integrated
The tool is currently free, in particular until June 8, the end date of the online income tax return for the last area. TaxMind’s objective is then to “build functionality” to serve other types of professionals, such as tax lawyers or wealth management advisors.
Additions will be made, in particular, in matters of foreign taxation, in order to condense the application of French law and foreign law. Available for three weeks, TaxMind claims over 2,000 users.
