The speaker of the Russian parliament, Viacheslav Volodin, this Wednesday described as “pure Satanism” the increase in transsexual American teenagers and rejected that it is happening in Russia.
“We don’t want that in our country. That they apply that diabolical policy in the US. We’ll see how it ends. It doesn’t bring anything good. Pure satanism,” said Viacheslav Volodin during the plenary session. of the Russian Chamber of Deputies.
The President of the State Duma criticized the fact that in the United States the number of transsexual adolescents “is already three times greater than among the adult population” and defended that “this is the result of propaganda” and that “the number of children undergoing therapy hormonal [nos EUA] more than doubled in the past five years”.
Viacheslav Volodin made the remarks during the session where the State Duma passed in first reading a law banning gender reassignment surgery, a law that has raised alarm among the transgender community.
The bill was referred to the lower house by 400 deputies – out of a total of 450 in the lower house – from the five parties with parliamentary representation, including the Kremlin’s United Russia party.
Between 2018 and last year, more than 2,700 Russians changed their gender on documents, with nearly 200 registered marriages.
In turn, Russia’s Deputy Health Minister Oleg Salagái today estimated the number of requests for gender reassignment to be 996 by 2022 and promised that transsexuals will continue to receive medical assistance.
“What [a transexualidade] whether it is a diseased condition, let me not doubt it,” he underlined.
Transsexuals fear that, once the law is passed, suicides among members of that community will increase and some may consider emigrating.
The 2020 constitutional revision introduced in the Magna Carta the concept that marriage is the union between a man and a woman.
“Same-sex marriages do not produce children,” said Kremlin head Vladimir Putin, who came to preach against “sexless and barren” liberalism.
