Pope Francis reappeared this Sunday before the faithful, whom he thanked for the expressions of affection shown during the time he was hospitalized for an abdominal operation.
“I want to express my gratitude for the affection, for the concern, for the friendship,” the Pope said during the Angelus prayer.
The head of the Catholic Church also said that “this human closeness was of great help and comfort.”
This was the first public act after his hospital discharge on Friday, since he was hospitalized in Rome between the 7th and 16th of this month due to an abdominal operation.
On June 7, the pope underwent three-hour abdominal surgery under general anesthesia to repair a hernia and remove painful scars, which was uneventful.
