Belarus starts building camps for the Wagner Group

Camps for mercenaries from the Wagner Group have begun to be built in the Belarusian region of Mogilov, some 200 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, the Verstka investigative portal reported on Monday.

According to this independent Russian news portal, several camps are already being set up, one of which is near the town of Asipovichy, with an area of 24,000 square meters, with a capacity for 8,000 beds.

Wagner Group mercenaries staged a 24-hour armed rebellion led by their leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, over the weekend, seizing the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don and advancing up to 200 kilometers from Moscow.

The rebellion ended with an agreement brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, which, according to the Kremlin, establishes that Prigozhin go into exile in Belarus, in exchange for immunity for himself and his mercenaries.

Mercenaries who did not directly participate in the mutiny will be able to sign contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry.

According to the investigation of the Verstka portal, the information that the mercenaries would be sent to Belarus was also confirmed by relatives of members of the Wagner Group.
