The agent of the American singer Madonna, Guy Oseary, revealed this Wednesday on his social networks that the tour “The Celebration Tour” of the artist, which was to begin in Vancouver, Canada, on July 15, is suspended.
“On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection that required her to spend several days in intensive care. Her health is improving, but she is still under medical care. She is expected to make a full recovery. At this time we will have to call off all engagements including touring,” Guy Oseary wrote on Instagram.

The agent promises news about the 64-year-old artist’s health soon, “including a new tour start date and rescheduled shows.”
Madonna has two concerts scheduled in Portugal on November 6 and 7, at the Altice Arena in Lisbon. The first date is already sold out and there are few tickets left for the second.
The show that Madonna presents on “The Celebration Tour” will have as its motto “the unparalleled catalog of hits from the last 40 years” of the singer, “the female soloist who has sold the most singles and albums in all of music history.”
Madonna last performed in Lisbon in January 2020, as part of the “Madame X” European tour, which took place in smaller, more intimate venues. The “Madame X” tour and her tagline album of the same name were creatively influenced by Madonna’s experience in Lisbon in previous years, where she came into contact with Portuguese and Latin culture.
The first time Madonna performed in Portugal was in 2004, when she closed the “Re-Invention Tour” in Lisbon. The following year she performed in Lisbon at the MTV European Music Awards ceremony, having returned to the Portuguese capital in 2008. In 2012 she performed at the Estádio Cidade de Coimbra.
