The fourth and final season of the “Succession” series leads the Emmy nominations, the North American television awards, announced on Wednesday.
The series, created by Jesse Armstrong, streamed by HBO Max and which won the 2022 Emmys, returns to lead the race for these awards, earning 27 nominations.
The series, about power struggles within a millionaire family that owns a media empire, stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin and they are all nominated again.
The nominations also extend to other actors in the cast, namely Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen – who won in 2022 -, Alan Ruck, Alexander Skarsgard and J. Smith-Cameron.
“Sucession” is also nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, a category it won in 2022.
With 24 nominations comes “The Last of Us”, the adaptation of a video game into a fiction series, starring Pedro Pascal and Bela Ramsey, both nominated in acting categories.
The other two most nominated series – and also adding up to wins in previous editions of the Emmys – are “The White Lotus” and “Ted Lasso” (Apple TV), with 23 and 21 nominations, respectively.
For HBO Max, this is a year of dominance at the Emmys, as “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” also come from this platform.
Nominees for best drama series are “Andor”, “Better Call Saul”, “The Crown”, “House of the Dragon”, “The Last of Us”, “Succession”, “The White Lotus” and “Yellowjackets”.
Nominees for Best Comedy Series are “Barry”, “The Bear”, “Jury Duty”, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, “Only Murders In The Building”, “Ted Lasso” and “Wednesday”.
The 75th Emmy Awards are scheduled for September 18 in Los Angeles, California.
