A fire broke out this morning in a military camp in the eastern Crimean peninsula, annexed by Russia in 2014, according to the Russian governor, prompting authorities to order the evacuation of more than 2,000 people.
“The temporary evacuation of residents from four places adjacent to the military camp in the Kirov region is planned. There are more than two thousand people,” Governor Sergey Axyonov said on the Telegram messaging platform, without explaining the cause of the fire. . .
Meanwhile, a crisis center has been created and the authorities have closed the Tavrida route, which connects Kerch on the Azov Sea with Sevastopol on the Black Sea.
Crimea has been the target of Ukrainian attacks for more than a year and especially since Monday, with the second attack on the Kerch bridge, which links the peninsula with Russia.
The day before, Moscow also claimed to have thwarted another Ukrainian attack with 28 ‘drones’.
