Two soldiers died and six others were injured this Tuesday when a Brazilian Navy helicopter crashed during an exercise in a military area in Formosa, a town about 80 kilometers from Brasília.
“Due to the immediate support of the Navy Expeditionary Medical Unit, two soldiers were rescued on the scene and sent to the Armed Forces Hospital and four to the Regional Hospital of Formosa. Unfortunately, two soldiers died at the time of the accident”reads a statement from the Brazilian Navy.

The helicopter was carrying 14 crew members and was taking part in an exercise where the Navy simulated a rescue operation to respond to a serious incident involving an oil tanker drifting into the sea.
“The Aeronautical Accident Investigation Commission initiated proceedings to determine the causes and circumstances of the incident”added the Brazilian authorities.
