A Ukrainian bombing killed one person and injured four in the Russian border region of Belgorod on Wednesday, the local governor announced.
“The village of Gorkovsky in the Graivoron district was attacked by the armed forces of Ukraine,” Vyacheslav Gladkov said on social media.
“One person died – one man suffered fatal injuries from shrapnel,” he added.
Gladkov also said a woman and three men were injured and emergency services were on the scene.
The region has been the target of regular bombing and drone strikes by the Ukrainian military.
In May and June, pro-Ukrainian militants calling themselves Russian partisans crossed the border into Belgorod, where they clashed with the Russian army.
State media said this month that regional militias in Belgorod have started receiving weapons to defend their territory.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists that the transfer of arms to Belgorod residents was controlled and necessary to repel attacks from Ukraine.
